Over four hundred years old and one of Kerala’s feudal heritages, Vismaya Lake Heritage is situated on the bank of Vembanad Lake in the heart of Kerala.
Comprising two bedrooms and a private pool, the beautiful design and construction of the villa, surrounded by nature, makes it a perfect place to de-stress, relax and spend some ‘me-time’.
Architecture
The property has been co-created by Jan and Christel Arryn and Arun and Smitha Prasad.
The design and style of the private wooden villa is unique, a blend of Indian contemporary design with shades of British architecture. The furniture was designed by a German architect. The cosy, beautifully-appointed rooms strike a perfect balance between luxury and warmth whilst the subtle lighting creates soothing and calming vibes.
Outside, the villa includes a beautiful garden, pool and a jetty. Why not grab a book and enjoy the serene view of nature while sitting alongside the lake?

Amenities
The rooms are designed in a classic style with a wood theme. The luxurious bathrooms are spacious and located outdoors, with a separate toilet, an open-air shower and a washing table. Inside, each room has an efficient air conditioner which quickly cools the room.
If you want to explore the heritage and neighbourhood there are two Indian bicycles available for you to ride to get a glimpse of your surroundings. They are free of charge and available for two hours every day.
The food is incredible, thanks to Chef Vishnu Kanjeeman, who offers a varied cuisine with a large choice of dishes. Menus are not curated but generated by guests which ensures that the dishes don’t get repeated regularly. I recommend his signature dish starter, a coconut and watermelon refresher. Meals can be taken by the pool or garden and you can also enjoy a candlelight dinner alongside the stunning view of the lake.
Here’s a sample of what to expect.
For breakfast, how about a continental start to the day, including eggs, toast, yoghurt, and fresh juice. For a change, go Kerala-style which includes idli appam with vegetable stew, vegetable Upma, Adda, stuffed pancakes, Puttu, masala dosa, and fresh juice.
For lunch, try an authentic Kerala style lunch, which includes rice, vegetables, and different styles of sandwiches. Non-vegetarans are tempted by a fusion of tandoori fish or chicken, along with a mixed salad which is prepared in the European style.
If you are craving some snacks, you can have masala peanuts, prawn chips, cashew nuts, or have onion fritters.
The amazing dinners comprises a starter, main course, and dessert. Favourites include pasta and scampi and their popular and delicious prawn dinner.
